I was hired by Carmina Escobar and The Clockshop to help create the technical elements of Carmina's large public multimedia performance on the LA River.
For this I helped design a set of 10 speakers that were custom fabricated for the event (with wood work by Davy Sumner). The speakers were placed around the space and controlled from the center. I also designed small glass enclosures with recorded audio that were placed in the bushes along the path. These small glass enclosures would play back a variety of strange sounds and would light up in sync with the sounds they emitted.
In addition, I designed a set of large audio reactive lights that were spread throughout the space in geometric patterns for Carmina to perform with and in.
The performances took place over the course of 2 days on the Bowtie Parcel in Los Angeles and was funded by the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles for Current:LA, and produced by Clockshop.
